Bebington smash local rivals Neston
Bebington got back to winning ways for the first time since 4th November 2017, with a comfortable 5-1 win over local rivals Neston.
The hosts started the game brightly and carved out a few chances, as well as Martin McInulty keeping the opposition out with some fine saves. However, it was Bebington who struck first blood when Captain Jon Griffiths hit a reverse stick strike just before half-time.
Bebington started the second half in search of another goal, to give themselves a bit of a cushion. They were rewarded for their efforts when Kris Bark struck to make it 2-0. It was soon 3-0 when Griffiths got his second goal of the game, deflecting in a crash-ball from Bark.
Neston managed to nick a goal back, albeit with a bit of help from McInulty who stepped over the ball to allow it to go in... only for not realising the shot was hit inside the D !
The Neston comeback did not last for long however when Keith Millington hit home from a penalty corner to make it 4-1.
And the rout was completed when Griffiths grabbed his hat-trick to make it 5-1.
Overall, a great performance after a reasonable start to 2018. Since the defeat at Neston 7s on 6th January, Bebington have taken a hard-fought point at University of Chester and Mossley Hill, with a 6-0 reverse against Birkenhead being their only other defeat.
Next up for Bebington is a trip to Winnington Park.
